Country Craft Show
Sanctified Hope Transitional Living Program for formerly incar- cerated women will hold a Country Craft Show from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 6 at Iron Skillet Restaurant, 2001 Santa Fe Drive in Weatherford. Jazz Night
The Aledo Band Boosters will host a Jazz Night and Silent Auction at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 6 at the Stillwater Meadow Event Center, 9842 E. Bankhead Hwy. Entertainment features the Aledo Jazz Bands One and Two.
Tickets are $25, and include din- ner and dancing and entry into the prize drawing.

Sam Houston presents
“The Lion of Texas”
Texas icon Sam Houston will be portrayed in the one-man show “The Lion of Texas” May 6 and 7 at the
Doss Heritage and Culture Center, 1400 Texas Drive in Weatherford. Saturday night’s performance will be held after a chuck wagon dinner on the lawn of the Doss Center and will end with a VIP meet and greet with Sam Houston. The dinner begins at 5 p.m., the show at 6 p.m. and the VIP meet and greet will commence at the end of the presentation at 8 p.m. The matinee performance is Sunday, May 7 from 2-4 p.m. and is appropriate for all ages.
Learn about Sam Houston’s her- oism at the Battle of San Jacinto and hear about his experience as the rst president of the Republic of Texas.
“The Lion of Texas” is modeled after the award winning “Mark Twain Tonight” one man show performed by Hal Holbrook. Sam Houston’s character is brought to life and written by a Texan named Sam Houston who gives the audience an intimate look at the Texas icon. The show has garnered acclaim from groups throughout Texas.
Different packages are available which can include all three activities (chuck wagon dinner, performance, VIP meet-and-greet) or simply the show with cost ranging from $25 to $100 per person. The Sunday mat- inee cost is $25 for adults and $10
for students.

Charlie Brown
The Aledo Players will present “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” at 7 p.m. Friday, May 12 at the Aledo High School Auditorium.
The musical is based on the comic strip “Peanuts,” by Charles Schulz.

Giant Yard Sale
Boy Scout Troop 1099 will hold a giant yard sale fundraiser from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 6 at the Aledo Community Center, 104 Robinson Court in Aledo.
Rescue Rodeo
The Weatherford-Parker County Animal Shelter will host the annual Rescue Rodeo from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 13 at Heritage Park in Weatherford.
Activities include low cost vac- cinations and heartworm testing, pet pageant, The Pet Fur’tographer, multiple animal/wildlife rescues, “Sassy” the Bobcat, shopping, food and live music all day.
The “Kid Zone” activities include bounce houses, McGruff, face paint- ing, creativity center, train rides, pony rides, photo booth, education con- tests, and Sparklette D’ Clown, and the author of “Growing Up TOBEY” and Tobey himself. Admission to Kid Zone is $10 for the rst child, and $5 per child thereafter.

The theme for this year’s Night at the Pops Concert is “Animation.” The event will feature the AHS Band, AHS Color guard, AHS Choir and other very special guests.
Night at the Pops is a production that has music, lights, explosions, costumes, acting, magic, video, audience participation, and dancing. Seating is limited.
The Aledo Music Enrichment Staff (private lesson teachers) also performs with the AHS Varsity Band to really enhance all of the music.
Donations will be accepted at the door.
