Country Craft Show
Sanctified Hope Transitional Living Program for formerly incarcerated women will hold a Country Craft Show from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 6 at Iron Skillet Restaurant, 2001 Santa Fe Drive in Weatherford. The Taming of the Shrew
Theatre off the Square will present Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew” at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday,
May 6 at Weatherford Heritage Park Amphitheater. The grounds open at 11 a.m. with no entrance fee. There will be food trucks and ven- dors, children’s activities, English Country Dance, music, and more. In addition, arti- sans - cane carving, potter, glass blower, and more – will be available. something to sit on. Coolers, but no alcoholic beverages, are allowed in the park.
Sam Houston presents “The Lion of Texas”
Texas icon Sam Houston will be portrayed in the one-man show “The Lion of Texas” May 6 and 7 at the Doss Heritage and Culture Center, 1400 Texas Drive in Weatherford. Saturday night’s performance will be held after a chuck wagon dinner on the lawn of the Doss Center and will end with a VIP meet and greet with Sam Houston. The dinner begins at 5 p.m., the show
at 6 p.m. and the VIP meet and greet will commence at the end of the presentation
at 8 p.m. The matinee per- formance is Sunday, May 7 from 2-4 p.m. and is appro- priate for all ages. Different packages are available which can include all three activities (chuck wagon dinner, perfor- mance, VIP meet-and-greet) or simply the show with cost ranging from $25 to $100 per person. The Sunday matinee cost is $25 for adults and

Jazz Night
The Aledo Band Boosters will host a Jazz Night and Silent Auction at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 6 at the Stillwater Meadow Event Center, 9842 E. Bankhead Hwy. Entertainment features the Aledo Jazz Bands One and Two. To purchase tickets, or for more information, visit aledobandboosters.com.

Clark Gardens Art and Sculpture Exhibit
Clark Gardens will host a one-of-a-kind exhibit show- casing art and sculpture from the private gallery of Shafer Collection through June of 2017. Pieces will include Texas Landscapes by renowned Texas artists and outdoor bronze sculptures by Robert Wick. Other artists include Peter L. Hohnstedt, Walton Leader, Rolla Taylor, Ruth Duncan, Harry Anthony DeYoung, Alice Chilton and Hanna Walker. Clark Gardens is located at 567 Maddux Road in Weatherford. Pottery of Mexico: Cultural Identities in Clay will be on display at the Museum of the Americas, 216 Fort Worth Hwy. in Weatherford, April 4 to July 29. Pollinators in the Garden
Master Gardener Janet D. Smith will present “Sex in the Garden,” an explanation of how flowers lure insects to help with their reproduction and how they reward the pol- linators, at the next meeting of the Cross Timbers Chapter of the Native Plant Society
of Texas. The meeting will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 11 at the Cherry Park Community Center, 313 W. Davis St.

A fundraiser will be held for the 10U ProSource Athletics Baseball Team, which earned a bid to the DeMarini Elite World Series tournament at ESPN World Wide Sports
in Orlando. This fundraiser will help with tournament fees and lodging. The event will be at 6 p.m. Friday, May 12 at 360 Mesa Grande Dr., Fort Worth (North of Aledo off White Settlement Road.). Cost is $25. No reservation is required.
