Policy 122: Prescription Medication Policy
     OBJECTIVE:
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale urges parents/guardians to schedule any necessary medication that needs to be taken outside of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale attendance. If medication must be administered during Club hours, it must be done so in accordance with the Prescription Medication Policy.
To ensure safety and avoid medication sharing, Club staff must follow a standard process of medication distribution to members. Failure to follow process will result in denial of medication distribution by Club personnel.
    RESPONSIBLE PARTY:
Branch Director or Designated Staff
     PROCEDURAL STEPS:
The Branch is responsible for storage of medication that is locked and away
 from Club Member Access. Branch must maintain a log of medications
 distributed to Club Members. This log is to be kept near the stored
 medication to ensure ALL medication distribution is logged in one place.
 This log must include:

A locked storage area shall be designated for the storage of medication. Medication requiring refrigeration shall be kept in a refrigerator in a secure

 Name of Member
 Name of Medication
 Time of Distribution
 Dosage
 Reaction
 Prior to medication distribution, the parent/guardian must meet with the
 Branch Director to discuss and document the member’s Medication Health
  Plan. This includes self-administered medications (aspirin, etc.). The
 required information includes:
 Name of Child Prescribed
 Name of Medication
 Medication Dosage
 Medication Frequency
 Items related to use of medication (avoid sunlight, must be taken
 with food, etc.)
 Medication Storage Instructions
 Medication must be presented in original prescription bottle containing the
 above-mentioned information. Medication may not be held in any packaging
 other than the original storage container.
