Policy No. 115 – Risk and Crisis Management
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale’s Crisis and Risk Management Team is in place to effectively and efficiently respond to emergency and crisis situations using the Crisis Communication Plan. The team must be engaged IMMEDIATELY when an emergency occurs. Ongoing communication with the team is necessary as the emergency is being resolved. All documentation post-incident should be forwarded to the team as well. The team consists of CEO, COO, Director of HR, and VP of Communications. The supervisor in charge during emergency is responsible for immediately contacting the appropriate member of the team to engage in decision making and information sharing process. The organization will follow the official Crisis Communication Plan when dealing with these situations.
Emergency situations included but are not limited to:
• Basic Safety Procedures
• Medical Emergencies
• Suspected Child Abuse or Neglect
• Missing Child
• Intruders, Violent Behavior or Assault
• Bomb Threat
• Fire
• Vehicle Accident
• Natural Disaster
• Severe Weather Conditions
• Hazardous Materials or Chemical Accidents
• Drive by Shootings/Snipers
• Medical Emergency, Blood Borne Pathogen/Communicable Disease
• Utility Outage
• Off Site Emergency Procedures
• Branch Specific Risk and Crisis Management Assessment Audit
• Media Response Policy Statement
Policy No. 116 – Mandated Reporting; Suspected Child Abuse Reporting
Understanding Mandated Reporting
All states and U.S. territories have statutes that require specific persons, typically based on profession, to report suspected child abuse or maltreatment to an appropriate agency like child protective services, law enforcement, or a child abuse reporting hotline.
A mandated reporter is a person who, because of his or her profession, is legally required to report any suspicion of child abuse or neglect to the relevant authorities. Typically, these professions include people
