Duct Tape
• Should never be used on any Club surface – wall, window, floor.
• Should only be used to bind materials to other materials (such as for art projects, parade floats,
etc.).
Trash
• Empty boxes should be broken down and flattened to save space in dumpsters.
• Garbage bags from special events should be taken to the dumpster immediately after the event
and not left over the weekend.
• Minimal garbage should be left inside the building during weekends.
General Safety/Appearance
• Staff are to constantly and consistently monitor program area for any safety hazards.
• Copies of program calendars are posted for members to see.
• Program areas are kept clean and free from trash and clutter – before, during and after
programming.
• The front desk area provides a positive first impression.
• Staff stands, smiles and greets all people entering the facility
• Signs and notices at front desk area must be approved by Branch Director or YDS/TDS.
• Kiosk screens in lobby or other areas are updated for the parents/guardians on a monthly
(minimum basis) and reflect the current events at the Branch.
• Member pictures and recognition are used when available.
• Music is only played in areas for program purposes. Music must always be Club appropriate.
• Any member rules are addressed in a positive fashion – Please walk, rather than NO RUNNING.
• Tables and chairs not in use should be stored in their proper areas and not left out in
hallways/areas with members.
• Program areas not in use should be locked with the lights off.
• Storage areas should always be closed and locked.
• Pictures of Club members and works by Club members are highly encouraged to be posted.
• Fire riser room areas should be clear of obstructions.
• Material Safety Data Sheets must be kept in front office area and in cleaning supply closets and
must be up to date.
• Each unused electrical outlet is covered with a safety plug cover or insert.
• A/C and heating programmable systems and thermostats should be set to minimize use when
Club and individual areas are not being used – such as on weekends or during the day during the school year.
Policy No. 501 – Restroom Upkeep
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale is committed to safeguarding the health, safety and dignity of all persons who use its restrooms. Restrooms shall be regularly cleaned and sanitized, fixtures shall be functional and maintained in good repair, and restroom rules of conduct shall be strictly enforced. Where BGCS operates in facilities owned and managed by others, the organization will coordinate with the property owner to ensure that the restrooms meet the organization’s standard of care.
