Transporting Members to and from Homes
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale provides transportation at specific sites to or from members’ homes where it is deemed necessary to break down any barrier by which youth would not have access to a Club setting. The one-on-one policy applies and may require 2 staff to ride on the bus for pickups and drop-offs. See the One-on-One Policy 111.
Coordination of Transportation at the Club
• Staff are responsible for gathering children in an approved check-out area of the Club.
• Staff are responsible for looking for all members in all the areas to ensure that no one gets left
behind.
• Staff drivers must check-off each child on the transportation list.
• Staff must ensure each member scans out on the Member Tracking System.
• If a member is accidentally left behind, the staff will be required to return to pick that child up and
the staff will receive a verbal warning. If it happens a second time, the staff will receive a written
warning and the discipline process will continue.
• If a member refuses or ignores staff request to line up in designated areas and the member is left,
the staff will call the parents/guardians to pick-up the child.
Coordination of Drop-off or Pick-up at Home
• If a staff must drive members home alone, they will drop-off siblings last to ensure they are never alone with a child. Staff must adhere to the policy prohibiting one-on-one contact with members. The same practice must be used when members are being picked-up from home as well.
• They will drop-off at the closest location to the front entrance to the member’s home where they are able to watch the child walk into their home and see the parent/guardian or family member of responsible age. In instances where the front entrance is inaccessible, a family member of a responsible age must meet the vehicle in a designated location that is safe.
