Description: This new activity aims to provide a forum for discussion and
appreciation of literature in a relaxed/informal atmosphere. The aim is for the
society to be more student led than teacher led, choosing topics and texts for
discussion, and looking at the broader aspects of literature and how these relate
to modern life. There will be opportunities for writing, reviewing, thinking and
reflecting. Open to students from Fifth Form and above, who have a passion for
literature and a genuine interest in the written (and spoken) word. You do not
need to be studying English Literature at A Level to join, although it would be a
good stepping stone for anyone considering English at University.
Skills learnt: Speaking and listening skills (discussion and argument), confidence
and eloquence, knowledge and appreciation of a broader range of literature.
