Creative Arts
An enriching creative arts programme runs throughout the school, exposing students to a
diverse and inspiring array of music, art and theatre.
With excellent facilities for art and photography, Bloxham students produced many
accomplished pieces, with the best selected for display at our annual art exhibition.
Visiting artist Kieron Stiles recognised work by Hannah Caudwell and Charlotte Gridley as
gold standard, with Charlotte Gridley’s painting – Isolated - later winning the front cover
competition for Specialist Crafts catalogue. Meanwhile, students Ollie Kilgallon and Sam
Lowe were invited to display their DT A Level projects at the prestigious Furniture Makers
Competition in London.
In December, a cast and crew of over 50 students and staff came together to stage
Schools Will Rock You, an energetic performance inspired by the hit West End musical
about the pop group Queen. In contrast, our Lower School’s performance of A
Midsummer Night’s Dream, for the Shakespeare Schools’ Festival, demonstrated the range
of our students’ theatrical talent and was praised as a mature and emotionally connecting
piece of theatre.
The Music Department also gave something for everyone in a programme comprising
25 concerts. Students drew acclaim at the Banbury Young Musician of the Year, winning
several trophies. Meanwhile, Venetia Moir competed in the finals of the Woodard Young
Musician of the Year and Ellie Whybrow passed the coveted ARSM Performance Diploma.
Christian Values
A Bloxham education is underpinned by Christian values. We encourage our
students to develop their own strong moral compass and to think beyond
themselves. Our active service programme sees Bloxham students volunteer
with Banbury Young Homeless Project, Banbury Food Bank and Green Students are
Pastures Care Home on a regular basis, as well as helping visiting “
