11. Penalties
11.1 A boat in class 0,1, 2,5 and 6 that may have infringed a rule of
Part 2 of RRS while racing may take a time penalty of 2% of her
elapsed time unless she has caused injury or damage or gained a
significant advantage in which case she will retire. The boat shall
display a yellow flag and comply with the requirements of RRS 44.3.
This changes RRS 44.2
11.2 The notation “DP” in a rule in Sailing Instructions means that
the penalty for a breach of that rule may, at the discretion of the
Protest Committee, be less than disqualification.
12. Time limits
12.1 The time limit for all classes is 18.30 Saturday and Sunday 17:30 all
other days with the exception of the Town Cup races, which has no
time limit, RRS 35 TIME LIMIT applies.
12.2 Boats finishing after 18.30 Saturday and Sunday 17:30 all other
days, may find that the Race Officer has replaced the Committee Boat
with a moored inflatable buoy displaying Flag M. This changes RRS
34. These boats must time themselves in and declare this time in
writing together with the sail number and name of any boat finishing
before and after to the Race Office by 08.30 the next day.
13. Retirements
A boat that retires shall inform the Race Officer or the Regatta Office b
efore the end of protest time.
14. Moored vessels
An entered boat making toward the racing area, racing or leaving the
racing area shall not touch a moored vessel or a mooring buoy to
which the vessel is moored or cause another boat to do so. When a
boat while racing touches a moored vessel:
(a) her penalty is to retire unless she protests another boat and is
exonerated under rule 64.1(a). (b) the owner/person in
charge shall report the collision to the Crouch Harbour Authority, on
channel M1 of VHF or telephone number 01621 783 602 or mobile
telephone number 07903 132 644 email: info@crouchharbour.org.uk
This reporting obligation is in addition to and not in substitution of the
reporting obligation contained in CHA Bye law 24.
