Chapter 11 – Recognizing Deception

Advocates who deceive are likened to false prophets:

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s
clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves”. “You
will know them by their fruits”. “Every good tree bears

good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree
cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good
            fruit.” (Matthew 7:15-20)

“A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings

forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil
treasure brings forth evil things.” (Matthew 12:35)

“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering,
            kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.

Against such there is no law” (Galatians 5:22-23).

During HIS Olivet discourse when CHRIST was foretelling
the events to come during the latter and last days, HE

warned that many deceptions would come. He said,
“Take heed that no one deceives you” (Matthew 24:4,
Mark 13:3-13, Luke 21:7-19). By the words, “Take Heed”
HE was instructing each of us to watch and observe all
things. To watch and observe in a manner that we can
discern truth, we must dispel our preconceptions and
            biases.

We now live in a world of unprecedented deception,
most of which emanates from institutions of education,
news media, movies, and TV programing. Truth is no
