        PIVOT TABLES

        OPTIONS AND FORMATTING

Pivot table options and formatting should be set as follows (see example below for a sample pivot table with these formatting
        options and styles applied):

           • Pivot Table Report Layout: Tabular

           • PivotTable Style Options: Uncheck Row Headers (when checked, the header row text is bold; unchecking this box
changes the text to not bold)

           • PivotTable Options – Empty Cells: For empty cells show 0 so that data columns with no data show 0 instead of being
blank (right-click on the pivot table and select Pivot Table Options… > Layout & Format)

           • Pivot Table Options – Expand/Collapse Buttons: Do not show expand/collapse buttons (right-click on the pivot table and
select Pivot Table Options… > Display) (For most documents, there is no need to show the expand/collapse buttons.
However, if a document is going to be used as a dynamic document such that it would be useful to be able to quickly
expand and collapse sections, leave this option checked.)
