STANDARDS FOR ALL DOCUMENTS (FT Title)
The following items should be considered in the preparation of all reference guide documents. (FT Body 10.5)
OVERVIEW (FT Heading)
All documents should have an Overview that should be the first section in the document. The overview should provide a brief
description of the purpose of the document. (FT Body 10.5)
STANDARD HELP CLAUSE (FT Heading)
The table below should be included at the bottom of all division guides and job aids that will be published for the division.
When using the template, the standard help clause table is already included as the last section of the new document. (FT
Body 10.5)
This table is not necessary on documents which are internal to the Finance team and it can be deleted. (FT Body 10.5)
For additional help or to provide feedback, please contact the Finance team via a ServiceNow Finance
General Inquiry.
REFERENCES TO SCREENSHOTS (FT Heading)
Consider the following when using screenshot images: (FT Body 10.5)
• If a screenshot image appears immediately below an item such that the screenshot image refers to the material
immediately above, it is not necessary to include verbiage such as “see the screenshot below.” (FT Bullet Level 1 – for
all)
• If a screenshot image applies to multiple items immediately above it (e.g., a series of steps followed by a single
screenshot image that applies to all of those steps) a screenshot reference is likely not necessary but should be included
if it helps with clarity.
• If it may not be clear what the screenshot image is referring to, a reference should be used (e.g., “see the screenshot
above”).
• If the screenshot image is on a different page than where it is being referenced, consider using a Word bookmark to
allow the user to quickly navigate to the image (see Creating and Inserting a Word Bookmark [this link is an example of a
Word bookmark]).
NUMBERED LISTS VS. BULLETS (FT Heading)
If what is being described requires specific steps to achieve (i.e., they must go in a specific order) or if you are referring to a
specific number of items (e.g., “there are five ways to…”), a numbered list (style = FT List Numbered) should be used. If you
have a list of items which are not necessarily in any sequential or consequential order, bullets should be used (style = FT Bullet
Level 1 and if a second level style = FT Bullet Level 2). (FT Body 10.5)
