8THE FILM%u2019S IMPACT: New SpeciesCOLOMBIA is one of the planet%u2019s 17 %u2018MEGADIVERSE%u201d countries. In fact, Colombia is the most biodiverse country(per square kilometer) in the world (home to 10% of the planet%u2019s entire species). Often referred to as the %u201cCrown Jewel of Colombia%u201d, Chiribiquete is home to 30% of the ecosystems and flora of the Colombian Amazon.Each time a biologist has visited the park, they have discovered multiple species new to science. The most significant recent discovery was the identification of a new species of primate in 2010.In addition to being the largest pristine and unexplored regions left on our planet, Chiribiquete is also one of the world%u2019s most valuable sites when it comes to ancient geology, biodiversity, ethnobotany and cultural heritage. Smooth and sheltered tepuis, enclaves and tunnels are painted with precise illustrations of legends, hunting activity and vision questions. Over the course of 2024- 2025, a highly specialized team of experts will make several expeditions deep into the park to film.Biodiversity%u2022 Natural history sequences (including macro studio work, cable dolly and lapsed-time techniques)%u2022 Specialist cameras like Starlight, Phantom (ultra-high speed), infra red, and underwater.
