Sister Jacqueline Hirsch led a group of Carrollton
students to Washington, D.C., during the week of
December seventh, to attend the 1981 Close Up
Program. Throughout this week, the participants
attended seminars and workshops that aimed to give
them an inside look at government. While in
Washington, the students took advantage of their
free day and visited such famous sites as the U.S.
Capitol, Smithsonian Institute, Library of Congress,
and Georgetown University. Vicky Rivas-Vazquez,
who was serving as U.S. House of Representatives
Page under Congressman Dante B. Fascell, took the
Carrollton students to the Congressman's office
where he discussed current affairs with them.
