In retrwpe the 2005-06 school year was an eventful one. Ushered in on

the winds of Hurricane Katrina, the disruptions continued through Rita and then finally
Wilma. The maintenance staff worked tirelessly to put the campuses back in order for us,
and we are grateful to them. One week after Wilma, the last and final blow, the faculty
and staff gathered in a hot and dark PAC to pray, to reorganize and to plan - not only
for Carrollton, but also for the victims of Hurricane Katrina in the Gulf states.

In the weeks to come, the Carrollton community joined together to sponsor school-
wide food and clothing drives, and fundraisers to benefit victims. Shortly after Katrina,
through the dedication of Sister Cooke and the greater Sacred Heart Community, plans
were made to help absorb some of the displaced students and their families. Over the
school year, ten students joined the Carrollton community while their own communities
           recovered.

This year also brought other challenges, including all the hard work that went into
preparing our Self Study for visits by the Florida Council of Independent Schools (FCIS),
the Florida Kindegarten Council (FKC), and the Southern Association of Colleges and
Schools (SACS). Then, after months of preparation and a three day visit by the evaluation
teams, Carrollton was highly commended by all.

There were some changes too. Changes to our space as the High School addition was
completed and the new classrooms were occupied, and the big change in our daily
routine, “Espacio.” Introduced by Sister Cooke to the whole school at the beginning of
Advent, those five minutes of quiet reflection have meant so much to us this year.

Then there were the Robotics Team, the Debate Team, the academic and sports awards,
and countless awards and commendations at graduations throughout the Carrollton
community. Most notably, Alexandra Villasante won the Presidential Scholar Award - the
first time ever for a Carrollton senior.

So at the close of the 2005-06 school year, we had much to rejoice in and reflect upon.
And through all the great and challenging experiences of the year, we are ever reminded
of the Five Goals of a Sacred Heart education.
