The Intermediate School participates in service days throughout
the year, which are days that we devote our time to helping
others. About two to three times a year, each grade level goes
to visit a different location. Fourth Grade students visit the
Redlands Christian Migrant Center where they spend time with
children whose parents are working on the migrant field. Fifth
Grade students visit Jackson Memorial Hospital. There, they
visit children with disabilities and play with them. Sixth Grade
students visit the Redlands Christian Migrant Center, but at a
different location than the Fourth Grade, where they visit other
children whose parents are also working as migrants. Another
community service opportunity for the Fifth and Sixth Graders,
is the Barnyard Program in which they visit the community day
care center, "The Barnyard." They help out by playing with
the children, reading to them and sometimes they even make
arts and crafts together. The Intermediate School has a weekly
collection of snack items to donate to "The Barnyard." Students
also held many bake sales, jewelry sales, dress-downs and raffles
to help out people in need including the children of Haiti. It
is an amazing experience being able to help out around the
community and it gives back to you when you see how happy the
children are when they see you.
