SELF-CHECKING/MONITORING
I can check regularly for accuracy as I go along with a task.
INHIBITING DESIRE / TOLERANCE
I can tolerate the unpleasant feeling of challenge and difficulty in a task to keep going until it is complete.
I can tolerate the unpleasant feeling of repetition or lack of interest in a task to keep going until it is complete.
I can start less interesting parts of a task first and avoid the urge to start with the interesting less important ones.
INHIBITION: VERBAL
I can hold the urge to share my thoughts, opinions or ideas and wait to take my turn in a conversation.
I can hold an idea or thought and build on the previous speaker’s comments rather than changing topic.
INHIBITION: PHYSICAL
I can hold a feeling of desire to say or do something and have ways to manage it rather than acting upon it immediately (e.g. I
can hold the urge to buy something, make a noise, leave my seat, move around, touch something or someone).
I can stop and resist the urge to take part in exciting yet ‘risky’ behaviors.
INHIBITION: GENERAL
I can wait to take a turn in a game, task or conversation. I can hold the urge to interrupt, push in or start.
I can be deliberate about the things I say and do and make sure it is helpful to me and others before I go ahead.
I know when I can be impulsive. I watch out for these triggers and get ready with my strategies to avoid them.
