Electrostatic Series: The arrangement of
materials according to the easiness of losing
electrons when rubbed together
When one material is rubbed with another:
? The material higher on the series +ve charged (Tends to lose electrons).
? The material lower on the series -ve charged. (Tends to gain electrons).
A single material can be charged with wither +ve / -ve charge depending on
the type of its rubbing material and its order in electrostatic series
?Weak electric charges are measured
using a device known as a coulomb meter Coulomb meter
and are measured in units of coulombs.
The Scientist Charles- Augustine de Coulomb
-A French physicist who formulated the law
describing electric forces between charged
particles named after him (Coulomb's Law), also
known as the inverse-square law.
- His studies and discoveries in the late 18th
century laid the foundation for the development of electromagnetic theory.
-In his honor, the unit of electric charge of Coulomb was named after him.
