? Pancreas: an organ in the endocrine system secretes insulin hormone.
? Insulin regulates the sugar level in blood and the sugar used for energy.
? People with diabetes disease are unable to make insulin so sugar stays in

the blood causing many problems.
? They must monitor the sugar level in their blood and not allow it to

become high or low.

Technological treatments

• Many technologies used to monitor their conditions at home.
• Regular shots (dose) of insulin.

• A device is called an insulin pump attached to the body to control the
sugar blood levels with automatic injections of insulin.

Researches are working to
develop an artificial

pancreas to pump insulin.
