Monday to Friday.BY CORRINE COLEMANEssie Lang, whose first onewoman show of paintings andconstructions opens April 14, atGallery 91, has teen working in artand design for the past 15 years.Starting with photography in 1958,the Cobble Hill artist did stageportraits for the PromenadeTheatre (an off-Broadway groupworking in Brooklyn Heights atthat time) before becoming thecostume designer for %u201c HeddaGabler%u201d and %u201cThe Lady%u2019s Not ForBurning,%u201d which were presentedby other off-Broadway companies.Recently trying her hand athandbag design, she successfullycreated, under the label, Essie N.Y., bags that sold at top New Yorkstores like Abercrombie & Fitch,Henri Bendel and Lord & Taylor.Her lifelong interest and involvement with the arts has included studies of painting andsculpture at Columbia University%u2019sSchool of Art, the BrooklynMuseum, and The EducationalAlliance in New York.
