In today's busy world, few realize - or even care - what's underneath on the Brooklyn side. Once a bustling area of commerce, the oid Fuiton Ferry area of Brooklyn is now a forgotton, rubbish ridden wasteland. For a brief afternoon this weekend the garbage w ill be cleared for a street fair celebrating the 90th birthday of the Bridge. The Bridge celebration w ill draw large crowds to the old Fulton Ferry site. Many seeing it cleaned for an afternoon w ill ask why it can't be cleaned and active year-round --- permanently. We ask the same question. This historic area, right in the heart of Downtown Brooklyn is a valuable public resource. We believe this first step to use the area for the public however brief, sets the stage for some serious public improvement in the years ahead. The tim e to start is now. if you agree, let us hear from you.
