Clark, Sr., president of Liberty Savings and Loan Association, have announced that their merger will be effective July 1 and that at that time the two will be jointly known as Atlantic Liberty Savings and Loan Association, with all business transacted in the building at 186 Montague Street, the current site of Liberty Savings and Loan Association.O%u2019Brien noted that, effective July 1, Atlantic Liberty Savings and Loan Association will be providing the maximum dividends on savings allowed by law. In accordance with current banking legislation, interest rates of up to 6.27 per cent effective yield may lx? earned annually, when certain conditions are met. Clark said, %u201c Not only will we be providing added convenience, competence and greater service to the people of Brooklyn, but also our combined strength and the experience and heritage which will be joined in this merging operation should be highly beneficial. 1 can think of no teacher greater than the past.%u201dState Senator Carol Bellamy urged Governor Rockefeller this week to veto legislation passes by both houses of the legislature which would permit local school boards to offer ROTC training for academic credit during school hours. Joining with the Ad Hoc Committee of Concerned Citizens Against the ROTC Bill in a protest held outside the New' York City office of the Governor this week, Senator Bellamy explained that she had spoken and voted against the bill when it had come before the Senate.According to the Senator, the cost factor of the program is very important. The bill provides that the Defense Department pays 75 per cent of the cost and the State picks up the rest. %u201cIf this appears like a small amount consider San Francisco,%u201d noted the Senator, %u201cwhere it cost the Board of Education $250,000 a year to maintain ROTC programs in only nine schools.%u201dwho received Athletic Achievement awards.Two Brooklyn Tech students, Dean L. Burrell and Lanny S. Smoot, were honored for earning National Achievement Scholar ships. Three other Brooklyn teachers earned recognition in the math and science field: Phillip Defina, the state representative to the International Science Fair in San Diego; Sheldon Katz, one of the top math students in the country; and Stuart Scharf, a high performer in the Interscholastic Math League. Clinics and Emergency Room the first five months of 1973.
