After much deliberation, they decided that, if the concept was solid enough, the name didn't really matter. You could call it anything. And that%u2019s what they did ... CALL IT ANYTHING is Park Slope%u2019s popular clothing boutique that outfits local residents informally in jeans and corduroys, work shirts and sweaters and blouses and jackets.Initially located at Garfield Place, CALL IT ANYTHING relocated to 87 Seventh Avenue at Union Street. John and Marty renovated the store themselves, building a central platform to make a multi-level shop and installing natural wood shelves and brightly curtained dressing rooms. A dart board, chess set and backgammon game seemed right at home in the remodeledshop and soon customers and neighbors were in again and again to visit, shop and pass some time at the game boards.John is a Manhattanite who studied Anthropology and Economics in college. He was an agent, working in Europe, for the Metropolitan Youth Hostel Association before he was attracted to the idea of opening a clothing shop. He admits his only previous retailing experience had been selling custard at The World%u2019s Fair, but with the encouragement of friends who lived in the Slope and recognized the need for such a shop, he opened the Garfield Place location. John met Marty, a Park Slope resident, in his karate class.Marty, who holds a degree in psychology from Brooklyn College, was attracted to the possibility of self employment after less than gratifying experiences working in customer relations for American Express and as an executive trainee in a Chase Manhattan program. The flexibility and opportunity for creativity in a self-operated business appealed to him as well as the people-oriented nature a small retail shop.MartyBuy inj manufac Marty at casual wi is handf selectee sonalizec fashion.
