Richmond reports that Councilmen Leon Katz, Howard Golden, Robert Steingut, Jr., Robert Wagner, Jr., Carter Burden, Anthony Gaeta and Monroe Cohen have agreed to cosponsor the drive for a Council probe of Con Ed.Richmond also denounced the gimmicky public relations tactics Con Ed employed during last week's hearings of the Public Service Commission when it revealed that the top executives of Con Ed would be taking pay cuts during the so called energy crisis.we%u2019re all lucky, to have this Feydeau play here to warm us up to a delightful evening of entertainment without having to shuffle off to Broadway.Well, what%u2019s %u201cHotel Paradiso%u201d all about? This rip roaring, helter skelter farce involves die rendezvous of Marcelle, (dazzlingly played by Ann Mathews) a youthful, but most neglected Parisan housewife with her husband%u2019s best friend, Boniface (Jack Fink) an engineer disenchanted with his wife of twenty years at the raunchy Hotel Paradiso, patronized by a potpouri of Victorian characters including ghosts. The highlight of the show is Act II where the director, Jay Julian, skillfully marshalled the cast with speed and imagination. Here, the ensemble acting which the players are known for evolved into a mad cap, %u201cKeystone%u201d state of affairs. What is fun all about? By looking and listening to the four sisters able represented by charming Caren Berman, Julie Montgomery, Franny Fuchs, and Elizabeth Tuccillo you will find the answer. Of course, don%u2019t overlook Tim Oppee, Anniello, the Italian Hotel Manager; Fred Johnson,Georges, the Cockney room clerk; Sandra Prosnitz and William Norris, the Lady and the Duke; and Dick Begelman, Tabu, the Turk in arrears for rent. All give their best to the best farce of ihe season.Without a doubt, the play%u2019s success is due to the excellent work of veteran performers Jack Fink and Karen Richter. Newcomers to the company, Charles Wantman, Kevin Keneally and Ed Healy demonstrate more versatility with each new assignment. Instead of oil wells from Texas, we have Dian Terry Victoire, the maid, to keep us warm all the way from Dallas.Tony Falcone%u2019s set remarkably uses the available space with customery cleverness.
