Hubert%u2019s has become a cult object for many who think they have discovered a Victorian jewel. Lisanne on Atlantic Avenue with its spare, modern look is the newest addition. Pate Vite%u2019s unique tiny dining roomkitchen dishes up some of the most delicious simple meals in town.LISANNE is the newest addition to the French dining experience in Brooklyn. Entering the restaurant, patrons have the opportunity to inspect the tidy but busy kitchen as they pass. Upon entering the large stark-white dining room, diners are greeted by the sight of a delightfulydecorated buffet table laden with pre- and post-dinner treasures. Dinner is prix fixe, ranging from a very reasonable $12 to $16 on one recent night. A range of five or six entrees is usually available with a similar choice of appetizers and desserts. Recent entrees ranged from a curried-sauce breast of chicken to a roast veal stuffed with spinach and sausage. Appetizers included an interesting pumpkin soup, the house pate and an escabeche. The dessert menu ranged from poached pears to a delightful applesauce-walnut cake. The evening menu is posted on a board in the front window, and, in person, is delivered by host Joel Wolf,for whom the restaurant is a labor of love. Lisanne, 448 Atlantic Avenue. But when you finish it%u2019s hard to decide which was better%u2014the food or the atmosphere. It really doesn%u2019t matter, because the dining experience is a real total delight. Waiting for dishes to arrive is hardly a chore because the chef is busy preparing them right in front of you. A recent menu showed a simple cucumber soup, rack of lamb with a salad. Desserts are delicious diablo chocolate cake, lemon tarte or chocolate mousse. Dinners are at a fixed price of $16.50.
