A FOURTH OF JULY SALUTE TO LADY LIBERTY J tPost Office Delivers LibertyThe U.S. Post Office is saluting liberty in its own way throughout most of the summer, wiiii permanent displays in me lu'ubyof the General Post Office, 271 Cadman Plaza East.Exhibits include a Post Office Museum, which chronicles 172 years of postal history, a Philatelic Center display featuring collector%u2019s items of postage stamps, cards and envelopes with a liberty theme, and contributions in writing, art and photography from postal employees. The displays are free and open to the public during regular business hours. For info, call 834-3308.Fireworks Cruise PlannedThe red-white-and-blue %u201cDolly Madison%u201d will give 200 people a closeup view of the Fourth of July fireworks complete with a dinner, open bar and live music. The boat, the recent purchase of David Walentas, will leave shore at 6pm for a six hour cruise around the harbor.Again, dinner, drinks and music are included in the price. A %u201cSalute to Liberty%u201d cruise will inaugurate the boat%u2019s use and is planned for 8:30am-3pm on Thursday, as well. That cruise includes breakfast, lunch and an open bar.The fireworks cruise is $250 per person, and the other cruises are $150 per person. For additional information, call Skyline Cruises (212) 765-5616.Disabled Go To Ferry ParkMore than 1,000 disabled and senior citizens have been invited to Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park on the Brooklyn waterfront to view special events on July 3 and 4. The celebration is sponsored by the New New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.Among the events to be viewed by the invited guests is a miniature parade of of some of the Tall Ships in OpSail, 1986, that will sail down the East River on July 3, between 9am and noon. On July 4, the group has been invited to watch the fireworks display. In addition to the ships and fireworks, the seniors will picnic on lunch or dinner baskets and listen to dixieland music and brass bands.%u201cThe Empire Fulton Ferry State Park offers an excellent window for viewing the ship%u2019s parading down the East River and the fireworks that will explode over the river,%u201d says State Parks Regional Director Clare Beckhardt. %u201cWe think what we are offering reflects in a small way the true spirit of what the Statue of Liberty means.%u201dModern Liberty Exhibit SetA very modem version of Lady Liberty will be on view at the Grand Army Plaza branch of the Brooklyn Public Library as part of the centennial celebration, through July 31.Walter Chin%u2019s most recent computergraphics at works, based on the statue will be displayed in a full color arrangement. In addition, an exhibit of photographs on loan from the Statue of Liberty-EUis Island Foundation will also be on view. Twenty-six photos ranging in subject fromrare shots of the images of Lady Liberty as she was conceived by sculptor Bartholdi to the unforgettable images of immigrants passing through Ellis Island are part of the exhibit.Kids Learn Of LibertyThe Brooklyn Children%u2019s Museum has several events to help the youngsters celebrate the meaning of liberty.On Thursday, July 3, %u201cPapier Mache Lady%u201d with Thomas Hewitt is a lecture and workshop on papier mache, with Lady Liberty as the focus of all the action. Workshop begins at 6pm. Saturday, July 5, the Don Quijote Experimental Children%u2019s Theater will present %u201cLady of the Harbor,%u201d at 1:30 and again at 3pm. The performances will be repeated on Sunday at the same times.The Children%u2019s Museum is at 145 Brooklyn Ave. Hours are Monday, Wednesday, Friday 2-5pm; Thursday, 2-8pm; and weekends and holidays 10am-5pm.
