                                    School TakesSeveral Park Slope and Brooklyn Heights students have achieved either Honors (no grade below B and earned 37 points) or Credits (no grade below B- and earned 30 pGuito) on Poly Fiep Country School's year end Upper School Honor Roll. Juniors earning Credits were Andrew Karp and Benamin Stewart, sophomore Berkeley Belknap achieved Honors and Sarah Brooks earned Credits. Freshmen Raquel Forsythe and Ayeola Fortune earned Credits.A group of parent volunteers at P.S. 29 were thanked at the recent final general meeting for their hard work this year. They are: Leah Wilcox, Brook Travelstead, Miry am Wasserman, Margaret Williams,Mary Beth Aberlin, Greg Paquette, Betty McDonald, Tina Igneri, Sally Smith, Bob Wiess, Rudy Kamuf, Bill Appel, Chris McKay, Pat Gardella, Joan Sawaya, Maureen Monaco, Tucker Crum, Bernadette Kelly, Evelyn LaQuercia, Marge Birchfield, Susan Lichi, Karen Reina, Pam Casal, and Tony Veronlco.Brooklyn Technical High School freshman Daiman Webb was the first place winner in Congressman Major Owens 12th Congressional District Martin Luther King High School Essay Contest. He received $500 for his essay. Second and third place winners were Pamela McCormick and Jose Angel Santiago of Clara Barton High School.Alice Timothy, assistant principal of the speech and music departments at Brooklyn Technical High School, says that the Brooklyn Tech debate Teams qualified for the State Forensics Finals in Albany this year and to help cover expenses, Manufacturers Hanover Trust gave $1000 through the efforts of vice president Nicholas Barbara; Con Ed contributed $200; and the Williamsburgh Savings Bank also extended support.Results from a Citywide Physical Fitness Program sponsored by the American Heart Association show that many Brooklyn students reached the 95th percentile of achievement on standardized fitness tests. Students from local schools include: Sherease Alston, Michael Bryan, George Garcia, Eluie Gonzalez, Michael Joyner, Monique Moore, Luc Paige, Philllpe Pierre, Norberto Vargas, Jesse Watson, Maurice West and Raheem Williams of P.S. 282; J.H.S. 51 students, Christine Arts, Matthew Brown, Johnny Burkette, Evelyn Cardona, Hilda Charles, Marcel Fulton, Laticia Gerena, Daniel Gonalez, Natasha Jett, Kendria Johnson, Sonia Lasso, Richard Long, Wendy Lopez, Paul Moore, Gregory Morrison, Robert Ortiz, Henry Padilla, Desmond Wilder and Willie Wilson; and P.S. 46 students, Debbie Cruze, Vemita Ellison, Angel Felix, Michael Jenkins, and Randell Johnson. Hale H.S.Local Kids Good At NumbersCommunity School District 15 students who scored the highest on the Citywide Interscholastic Mathematics League Competition were honored during the school board meeting, June 25 at P.S. 230 in Kensington.Each year, approximately 50,000 students compete in this city competition and awards are made to those students who score highest in their school districts and in their borough.
