Although the process may be long, he suggests that students pursue their acquirement of aid vigorously. In addition to government aid, many schools have private scholarships based on academic achievement and many departments allocate their own grants to students excelling in their degree program. Although the prospect of beginning to return to school may seem financially intimidating, a large majority of students attending City colleges receive aid in one form or another such as Brooklyn College, where most students receive aid. Smaller schools, such as the Institute of Design and Construction, offer a smaller assortment of aid packages but nonetheless, of roughly 250 students attending the school, 30 receive aid.Mayor Gives MoneyApplications are now available for the Myor%u2019s Scholarship Program, which is sponsored by the federal agency for Housing and Urban Development. The program awards 5000 scholarships, ranging from $100-$650 for New York Citystudents enrolled as fulltime matriculated students in degree granting institutions of higher education.
