Author Biography
Dr. Riazollah Firoozian was born in Iran and he started his education at a primary
school in Tehran. The education system at that time was divided to 6 years of pri-
mary and 6 years of secondary education with final examination at the end of both

fully with average marks of 95 % in final examination.
The entrance to the Universities of Iran had separate examinations with very high
competition. The Author was successful to secure a place at Amir Kabir university
in the field of Mechanical Engineering. He completed the 4 years university educa-
tion with minimum of time in three and a half years. The Author becomes the first
in class of 80 students. He obtained his BSc degree in 1978.
He was then accepted by Aston University of Birmingham, UK, for a post graduate
studies. He managed to complete his post graduate studies in 1 year and becoming
first both in final examination and the 6 months project work. After obtaining the
MSc degree, he was offered a scholarship to stay at Aston University for the degree
of PhD degree by carrying out research on Servo Motors. After 3 years of research
and teaching work he obtained the degree of PhD successfully. Then, he was offered
a research and teaching post at the University of Liverpool, UK. The result of this
research which was on vibration control of rotor bearing systems, was graded by
research council as A.
The Author then, accepted a research and teaching post at the University of Shef-
field, UK. He was the leader of three research group studying the control of ser-
vo motors with flexible transmission mechanism, State variable feedback control
theory and electro-rheological fluids. He was also involved in teaching of Statics,
Dynamics, Control for under graduate level and also he devised a syllabus of servo
motors and State variable feedback control theory for postgraduate study.
The Author has written this book so that both under graduate and post graduate stu-
dent to benefit from his experience. The Author has also invented a new religion and
has written a book of 55 pages about it. The name of religion is “Shalgam (Turnip)
