Red Hat’s Regional Director of Partner Ecosystems for the Middle East and Africa, Burak
Borhan, provides insights into how the company’s open-source technologies empower
logistics and supply chain businesses to tackle these challenges head-on. With a focus
on hybrid cloud infrastructure, AI integration, and partnerships, Red Hat supports
businesses in streamlining operations, enhancing data predictability, and meeting
stringent regional compliance requirements.
Red Hat’s offerings for the logistics sector
Red Hat plays a pivotal role in enhancing efficiency within the logistics industry,
offering robust platforms to address the sector’s specific challenges. “From a logistics
perspective, it’s all about predictability,” Borhan explains, highlighting how volatility in
global disruptions makes forecasting a top priority. To manage complex supply chains,
which often involve “thousands of suppliers, tens of factories, and geographically
distributed warehouses,” Red Hat supports logistics companies with data-driven
solutions.
The shift towards e-commerce has also influenced logistics operations, requiring
businesses to prioritise faster delivery modes like air freight. Borhan notes that this shift
has raised the need for more accurate forecasting and data management, which is
where Red Hat’s OpenShift platform becomes critical. “With OpenShift, companies can
develop in-house applications to process large data sets in real time,” ensuring smooth
operations and improving predictability despite uncertainties in supply and demand.
Red Hat’s hybrid cloud infrastructure allows logistics companies to store and manage
data in compliance with regional data sovereignty regulations. “We provide the
platform to keep data where it needs to be,” Borhan emphasises, adding that their
approach enables businesses to run operations across private and public clouds, edge
devices, or on-premise systems. This flexibility ensures seamless workflows regardless
of the operating environment.
AI and custom solutions for industry needs
Red Hat’s approach to AI emphasises practical, use-case-driven solutions tailored to the
specific needs of each business. Borhan highlights that AI adoption must solve concrete
problems rather than be a trend-driven initiative. “AI needs to solve the problem, and
there needs to be a use case,” he explains. The company ensures that AI
implementations align with business goals, avoiding the pitfalls of generic AI
