Marwan Abdulaziz Janahi added that protecting intellectual property is essential for
promoting innovation. He highlighted the UAE’s commitment to nurturing talent and
human ingenuity, which attracts the world’s brightest minds. He also explained that the
partnership with the Ministry will accelerate research and development, help grow
homegrown innovation, and enable long-term growth within the UAE.

“Through this collaboration, we aim to cultivate exceptional talent and strengthen the
innovation ecosystem within our business districts,” he said.

        UAE’s Commitment to Innovation

The MoU aligns with the UAE’s broader vision of promoting innovation, creativity, and
economic growth. The government has been actively working to develop a knowledge-

based economy, where intellectual property rights are recognized as a critical driver of
        economic development.

In recent years, there has been growing awareness in both society and institutions about
the importance of IP protection. Between January and July 2025, the Ministry of Economy

and Tourism recorded 1,221 patents, compared to 466 during the same period in 2024.
Similarly, new patent applications rose from 1,996 in 2024 to 2,430 in 2025. These figures
indicate that businesses and individuals are increasingly recognizing the value of
        protecting their intellectual property.
