Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030

Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 is an ambitious plan to diversify the Kingdom’s economy
away from oil dependency and transform it into a global logistics hub. In the logistics
sector, the strategy focuses on enhancing infrastructure, increasing capacity, and

integrating advanced technologies to improve efficiency and sustainability.

Key objectives

Global logistics hub: Position Saudi Arabia as a central logistics hub connecting Asia,

Europe, and Africa.

Economic diversification: By 2030, the logistics sector’s contribution to the national
GDP will increase from 6% to 10%, generating approximately $12 billion annually in

non-oil revenues.

Infrastructure development: Expand and modernise the transport infrastructure,

including ports, airports, railways, and road networks.

Key initiatives

National Transport and Logistics Strategy: Launched in 2021, this strategy includes

several transformative projects.

Air transport: Introduce a new national air carrier and increase the number of

international destinations served to over 250. Air cargo capacity is expected to rise to
more than 4.5 million tons annually.

Maritime transport: Expand port capacities to handle more than 40 million containers

annually, supported by significant investments in port infrastructure and connectivity

improvements.

Rail networks: Extend the railway network from 5,330 km to 8,080 km, including

constructing a 1,300 km land bridge connecting ports on the Arabian Gulf with those
on the Red Sea, facilitating the movement of over 50 million tons of freight annually.

Road infrastructure: Improve road quality and safety, reduce fuel consumption by

25%, and implement smart transport solutions to enhance overall connectivity and
