MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman has welcomed the adoption of a series of
SHARE resolutions by the Universal Postal Union (UPU) Congress, held on Monday in Dubai, UAE.
These resolutions reinforce the rights of the Palestinian people to postal services. Oman emphasised
that this step embodies the spirit of justice and fairness and reflects international solidarity with the
Palestinian people.
The conference approved three main pillars, which were supported by Oman and a number of other
member states. These included: Upgrading the membership of the State of Palestine in the Union,
ensuring it has equal rights and obligations as other member states; Full implementation of previous
UPU agreements and resolutions regarding Palestine's right to postal exchange via the Hashemite
Kingdom of Jordan; and providing technical and financial support to rebuild postal infrastructure in
the Gaza Strip.
