9/16/25, 1:37 PM Oman hails UPU resolutions on Palestinian postal rights
In Oman’s address to the congress, Sayyid Nasr Badr al Busaidi, Chief Postmaster General of
Oman Post, said UPU was founded on the principle that mail should reach every person without
discrimination or exclusion. He stressed that the Palestinian people remain deprived of this
fundamental right.
“The Palestinian postal service, which should be a bridge for communication, has become a site
of suffering – offices demolished, workers targeted, letters undelivered and families left waiting
for news, medicine or a message from loved ones,” he said. “Depriving Palestinians of their
mail is depriving them of the simplest meanings of life and dignity.”
Busaidi added that the union’s strength lies in justice and equality among all peoples and urged
the international community and UPU members to take decisive action to restore the
Palestinian postal service as a vital channel of communication and hope.
Oman expressed gratitude for the supportive stance of participating countries, noting that these
historic resolutions not only safeguard Palestinian postal rights but also reinforce UPU’s role as
a global organisation committed to universal postal service and humanitarian access.
