The Ministry of Economy and Tourism of the UAE has signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs)
with the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office and the Moroccan Industrial and Commercial Property
Office, aiming to enhance cooperation in the field of intellectual property (IP).

The MoUs, formalized during the UAE delegation’s participation in the 66th Series of Meetings of the
Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva,
were signed in the presence of Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism.

These agreements are designed to support the development of the UAE’s IP framework in alignment with
international best practices, and to bolster the country’s position as a hub for innovation and knowledge-
based industries.

Key areas of cooperation outlined in the MoUs include digital transformation, talent development, and
improved coordination in industrial property and patent registration. Both agreements emphasize the
integration of advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, to enhance processes such as patent
search and classification.
