On the sidelines of his participation in the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)
meetings in Geneva
H.E. Bin Touq Al Marri held discussions with ministers and officials
from Singapore, Estonia, Spain, Japan, and WIPO on strengthening
cooperation in intellectual property protection applications
>> H.E. Bin Touq: "The UAE has successfully established itself as a global
benchmark for the protection and cultivation of innovative ideas... and we are
committed to enhancing international collaboration in the field of intellectual
property protection."
• The UAE and Estonia are exploring avenues for cooperation in the digital transformation
of systems and services, while strengthening the exchange of expertise in developing
digital policies that foster innovation
• Exploring bilateral cooperation with Singapore to: develop robust intellectual property
legislation, streamline regulatory processes, and enhance the business environment for
start-up growth
• The UAE is working closely with WIPO to modernise the intellectual property
framework, strengthen institutional capacities, foster digital transformation partnerships,
and align legislation with global best practices.
• The UAE and Spain have reaffirmed their commitment to advancing industrial property
cooperation through three key pillars: professional capacity building, digital service
enhancement, and expanded training initiatives
• Engaging with representatives from the Japanese Patent Office to explore the adoption of
cutting-edge technologies for patent examination, registration systems, utility models,
and industrial designs, while ensuring full compliance with international standards
Abu Dhabi, 09 July 2025 - H.E. Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy and
Tourism, explored bilateral cooperation opportunities in innovation enablement and
comprehensive IP protection during meetings with: H.E. Lisa Li Pacosta, Minister of Justice and
Digital Affairs in Estonia; H.E. Luke Goh is the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Law in
Singapore; Daren Tang, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO);
and Elisa Rodríguez Ortiz, Director of the Patent and Trademark Office in Spain; alongside
