4/23/25, 4:51 PM 8th Edition of ICEQ International Conference Begins in Dubai
More than 500 delegates from 31 government entities, 55 universities, and 32 institutions
are attending. The event features over 200 research papers and over 200 speakers,
including experts from Microsoft and Google.
Senior officials in attendance included Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director-General of
the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai, who announced the
launch of the Unlimited Smart Travel service at Dubai International Airport’s First and
Business Class lounges. Powered by AI-driven facial recognition, the system enhances
identity verification, speeds up processing from one to ten travellers at once, and
streamlines service steps.
“Artificial intelligence is no longer a theoretical luxury—it
is a practical necessity,”
Al Marri said in his address.
“We are placing it in the service of education, of
humanity, and of a nation that deserves the best.”
The conference continues at the Directorate’s Al Jafiliya headquarters and will conclude
with the launch of an AI Innovation Lab and the signing of three strategic cooperation
agreements. According to Dr. Caroline A. Jones of the ICEQ Supreme Committee, the
event provides a working model for tech integration into education and governance,
reinforcing Dubai’s growing status as a global smart innovation hub.
