Fostering Compassion for Our Elders: Launch of the ‘Let Us Protect Our Elders with Love’ Guide in Abu Dhabi
In a significant stride towards improving the lives of senior citizens in the United Arab Emirates, the Family Development Foundation (FDF) has unveiled a new guide
entitled ‘Let Us Protect Our Elders with Love.’ This initiative emerges from the compassionate vision of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, a stalwart advocate for
social welfare and the Mother of the Nation. The launch was commemorated with a press conference at the Foundation’s Abu Dhabi center, an event that coincided with the
observance of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, emphasizing the urgent need for community engagement and support towards the elderly population.

The primary intent behind this guide is to educate the public on the importance of providing respectful, compassionate care to older adults. It seeks to solidify the central
principles that ensure senior citizens not only live honorably, but also experience a profound sense of appreciation and inclusion within their families and communities. In an
era where the demographic shift towards an aging population is more pronounced than ever, the guide’s revelations are timely and necessary.

The press conference attracted a diverse audience, including government officials, social experts, and media professionals, all united in a shared purpose: to create a safe and
nurturing environment for the elderly. Mariam Mohammed Al Rumaithi, the Director-General of the FDF, articulated the core messages of the initiative. “The ‘Let Us
