Over two‑ to four‑week sessions, participants will rotate through real‑world placements in hotels
and tourism venues, attend mentorship workshops, and earn accredited certificates.
The initiative, unveiled by Minister of Economy Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri alongside Shaikha
Nasser Al Nowais, secretary-general elect of the UN World Tourism Organization, bridges
academics and careers while nurturing leadership, teamwork, and service excellence.
Al Marri said tourism now drives sustainable development and economic competitiveness in the
UAE. It’s vital to cultivate homegrown leaders and skills across all tourism areas to sustain growth
and boost the industry’s social and economic impact, he added.
The camp is a pivotal step in building national tourism expertise, Al Nowais said.

Tourism in the UAE
Hotel revenues in the UAE reached $6.7 billion (AED24.6 billion) in the first half of 2024, a 7%
year-on-year increase. The number of hotel guests rose 10.5% to approximately 15.3 million. The
UAE achieved a 79.5% hotel occupancy rate, among the highest globally, according to the Ministry
of Economy data.
Hotel capacity expanded to 213,741 rooms, a 3% year-on-year increase, with over 53 million hotel
nights, up 10%.
In aviation, UAE airports handled 71.75 million passengers in the first half of 2024, a 14.2%
increase year-on-year. The UAE now has air transport agreements with 188 countries, supporting its
position as a global aviation hub.
