The Minister of Economy, Trade, and Enterprise, Carlos Cuerpo, together with the Minister of
Economy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, chaired the fifth Joint
Economic Commission between the two countries.
At this meeting, both ministers addressed the economic situation in their countries and global
challenges, while highlighting the positive momentum of bilateral trade and economic relations.
Furthermore, within the framework of this Commission, it was agreed to promote the
participation of the business communities of both countries in trade and business fairs held in
the UAE and Spain, to promote trade and investment.
Both delegations highlighted as a milestone the recent understanding between the European
Commission and the Government of the United Arab Emirates to begin negotiations on a
Strategic Partnership.
"Spain supports this future treaty to promote greater diversification in the Gulf region and
strengthen economic resilience," the Ministry of Economy stated in a statement.
INVESTMENT PROJECTS IN THIRD COUNTRIES
Both parties also expressed their interest in exploring opportunities to promote investment
projects in third countries, with particular attention to Africa and Latin America.
Furthermore, both countries highlighted the recent signing of the Memorandum of
Understanding between the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of the UAE and the
