Dubai announces flexible work model for public employees

        this summer

Dubai will implement a flexible summer work model for government employees from July 1 to September 12, 2025. Staff will
follow two shift patterns, with some enjoying Fridays off. The move follows a successful 2024 pilot showing 98% employee
satisfaction. It coincides with the UAE’s midday work ban, active from June 15 to September 15, to protect outdoor workers.
Over 10,000 air-conditioned rest areas have also been set up for delivery staff, reinforcing the country’s commitment to
        workforce welfare during peak summer.

announced that the initiative will run until September 12, with implementation left to the
                          discretion of individual government entities.

The model will split employees into two groups. One group will work eight hours from
Monday to Thursday and receive a full day off on Friday. The second group will work
seven hours Monday to Thursday and four and a half hours on Friday, aligning with the

official five-day work schedule. This builds on a 2024 pilot programme involving 21
government entities, which reported a 98% employee satisfaction rate and improved

                          workplace productivity.
