CHAPTER 7: WELLNESS TIME OFF
BEREAVEMENT
Associates’ loss of certain family members can create high levels of emotional grief and distress. When these unfortunate situations occur, regular full-time associates are provided with paid time off based on their base pay rate to handle related matters such as making funeral arrangements, settling family affairs, grief coping, and/or attending the funeral or memorial service in connection with the death of certain members of the associate’s family. The University may require related documentation on an exception basis (e.g., death certificate, obituary, documentation from funeral home). Time off for death
in the family must be arranged by notifying your immediate supervisor/manager and then requesting bereavement time off through the payroll system.
Beginning at hire, a maximum of five consecutive days
off with pay is permitted upon the death of an eligible associate’s spouse or Associate Experience registered domestic partner, child, brother or sister, parent, legal guardian, son or daughter-in-law, mother or father-in-law, and brother or sister-in-law.
A maximum of three (3) consecutive days off with pay is permitted upon the death of an eligible associate’s grandparent, grandchild, aunt, or uncle.
If necessary, you and your family members may also utilize the previously mentioned Post University fully paid Associate Assistance Program (EAP) benefit for professional grief counseling (1-833-515-0769 or access online at guidanceresources.com).
OTHER LEAVES
Post recognizes that certain states, even certain cities and counties, provide additional types of leave (such as voting rights leave) for associates working or residing in those states. Post is committed to compliance with all such statutes, laws, regulations, and ordinances even if not discussed in this Associate Handbook or any appendix. Should you have any questions regarding a specific leave, please contact Associate Experience.
