A: This is always a challenge and must be treated sensitively. Parents often ignore their child’s learning
difficulty as they feel they maybe cannot assist or that it will simply reinforce the child’s feelings of inade-
quacy. MAP growth will make this more visible and also present both the students and the parent with data
to show improvement. This will be positive. There is a greater need for communication with parents to
reassure them that the intention is improvement not reinforcing the negative feelings the child and parents
               may have.

Q: Student engagement and feedback was cited, how is this going to be encouraged/managed?

A: The Teacher Academy is playing a key role in all states. There is also a process of reviewing the quality of
Canvas courses to ensure that engagement and feedback are paramount. This is a high-level aspect of the
soon-to-be-released Global Strategic Plan with specific emphasis on the area of SDL.

Q: We would like to know more about the teacher development framework. How can we ensure our
students are getting the very best out of the teachers?

A: The Teacher Development Framework has been in place for a while, but the difference between the
process this year and previous years is they are a lot more formalised. This is going to be enhanced by the
Teacher Progression Matrix as well. We will be able to drill down at state, campus and teacher level to reveal
what each teacher needs for PD. We will have a person sitting alongside to help them develop their goals.
Teacher Progression Matrix is global. You could ask the RP in your region for a link. In a comfortably sup-
portive environment, teachers need to rate their performance in areas such as use of IT, value of the school’s
ethos etc. Areas of concern identified will lead to allocating PD resources around this. Historically PD has
been less focused, for example a teacher hears about a good course and applies. The Teacher Academy will
               be targeted to teacher needs.

Q: Is it in mind to look at a common national curriculum for Years 11 and 12 in the future?

A: There is very little national alignment across the states. There is a team looking at this, for a curriculum to
               meet all requirements.

Q: Would it be possible for there to be greater collaboration nationally in subject departments?

A: This was discussed at the National HOD conference last year and is actively being followed up.

Q: Could most of the required PD for staff be done nationally via Zoom or similar?
