differs in size and subject focus, so the Team can make something specific for each and every campus. You have
to make a space that is the right size for the number of students in the school. We generally try to work on
around 10m2 per student. It is very important that the room isn’t too big so that students can interact.

Q: Is there a goal for when primary learning centres are to be up and running?

A: There currently isn’t any plan set in concrete for when primary learning centres (LC) will be up and run-
ning by. We are doing primary LCs frequently. With new school builds, we have incorporated a LC for prima-
ry. However, in both new builds and upgrades, it comes down to the availability of funds. With primary LCs,
you want flexible areas and you don’t need a lot of space. If funds are available, submit it to the system.

Q: If works are recommended to bring facilities up to the global standard, how is it funded?

A: If the campus has the funds available, then an upgrade can go ahead. However, it is important that all
costs involved are taken into consideration. You need to think about the cost of the building, IT costs and
cost of the consultants. There are also ongoing costs to take into consideration such as power etc. Need to
ensure you have enough funds to cover all these costs.

Q: How important is merging campuses now that VC is well in place to remove travel etc.?

A: Campuses are only merged on very rare occasions. There is no definite plan in place as VC doesn’t play a
huge part in the decision to merge. Any merge in campuses is a long thought out decision to ensure the best
               for our students and teachers.

Q: What is recommended as a suitable music teaching space for a campus with approx. 40 students?

A: Every campus is different in size, scale and each have their own areas of focus. Music rooms differ vastly
between campuses. Where campuses put a lot of emphasis on music, we get requests for big music spaces.
However, some campuses might put more emphasis on art and request a big art space. It really depends on
how the campus functions. The hardest thing is that every project is different as every school has different
requirements. There are no blue prints as guides. Flexibility is key for our schools going forward. It is import-
ant that we make environments appropriate for different purposes to be used for different things at differ-
ent times of day. Multi-purpose rooms are far more practical. We recommend not to make a space dedicat-
ed just to music or just to art, but to create a multi-purpose space.

Q: What is recommended for a suitable canteen space for a campus with approx. 40 students?

A: There aren’t any standard sizes or specific requirements for canteens as every campus has different needs
and uses for canteens. We look at these spaces on a case by case basis to ensure we cater to the campus’
               individual needs.

Q: Could the overview by Dave be provided to parents to open their eyes as to the vision for our school
