Students learn best when the teacher:

• Provides a road map of topic/course and work to be completed in advance

• Uses authentic, meaningful examples
• Creates a relaxed and inclusive environment
• Deconstructs questions to enhance understanding
• Provides clear instructions on where and how to upload work
• Provides consistent and clear information on assessment tasks so that every student gets the
information on how to succeed
• Learns with the students.
Students don’t learn well when the teacher:
• Continually reads out of the textbook
• Focuses on too much content
• Tells too many stories
• Has poor classroom management
• Just talks
• Is untrained in VC
• Has unstructured Canvas courses
• Issues unscheduled work
• Does not respond to student email
• Does not engage with technology
