Friday Session F65 8:30 - 9:20 104A
Developing Math Fluency in Grades 6-8
How can you build a math fluency routine that develops number sense and efficiency,
flexibility, and accuracy with operations in just 10 minutes a day? We'll experience how
number strings and math talks can increase your students' confidence in mathematics.
Participants will walk away with a sample and will enter in a drawing for a grade level of choice
of Daily Math Fluency.

Friday Session F66 8:30 - 9:20 104B
We've Got Your Number! Routines That Work!
How many times have you said or have heard another educator say their students do not have
number sense? During this session, you will learn what it means to have number sense and
what you can do to foster number sense in your students.
Number sense is the cornerstone for mathematical concepts. Facilitating a number sense
routine each day provides predictability, builds community, establishes a safe learning
environment, and frees up space for learning to occur. Number sense routines provide entry
points for all learners . Students gain confidence, practice thinking, and improve accuracy.
With number sense routines, students become more comfortable with mathematics and are
more willing to take risks as all answers are valued. They begin to see themselves as
mathematicians. Number sense routines engage students during the first few minutes of math
which leads to more engagement during the math lesson.
