New York Beauty in Red, White and Green The colors are as old as the 1840s. Could have been done any
time since. It’s probably old, based upon the old-fashioned size and the use of fugitive green, seen from
about 1875 to 1920s. eBay purchase 2015. 73"x82" Fabric: Cotton, colors on white muslin. Batting: Thin.
Backing: White muslin. Edge: White tape affixed by hand ¼" to the front and 5⁄8" to the back. Piecing: By
machine. Quilting: By hand, extensive, 6-7 stitches per inch. The white blocks contain wreaths. Quilting is
echo quilting within the colored pieces except that the outermost row of teeth around the round motifs is
quilting in concentric circles. Condition: Good. There is fading to nine of the teeth along the bands that run
from center to center of the round motifs. The fabric is clean and crisp.
