my mom had a
quilt like that
Nine Patch 1930s. Purchased in Issaquah WA in about 1988. 75"x85" Fabric: Cotton, plaids, shirtings, ging-
hams, 1930s prints, seersucker, stripes, solids, some looser weaves. Batting: Thick cotton. Backing: Pieced
from cotton, possibly flour sacks, pink, which have faded differentially. Edge: Straight-grained Nile green
sewed to the front then hemmed to the back creating a ½" border on each side. Piecing: Machine. Quilting:
By hand, clamshell or Baptist fan pattern in arcs 1" apart, 5 stitches per inch. Condition: Very good. Faint
brown marks in one white patch may be a faded pattern, not aging. Comment: The appeal of this quilt is as
an example of a simple, sturdy, clean, traditional quilt.
