Recent Relevant Experience
Wilmot Arts and Culture Strategy (2018)
For the Township of Wilmot in Waterloo Region we prepared an arts, culture and heritage master plan, which was to direct the efforts of the municipality over the next 5-year period. Working closely with a Steering Committee comprised of community representatives and Township staff, the project involved an extensive community survey; several presentations and input sessions with the community; an organization and business survey; and a review of the activities of comparable municipalities. The plan was approved by Council in November 2018.
Collingwood Parks, Recreation & Culture Master Plan (2018)
With MHBC we developed a parks, recreation and culture Master Plan for the Town of Collingwood. The plan was based upon extensive public input through interviews, surveys, public meetings and attendance by the consultants at various community events and activities (e.g. the ‘Elvis’ festival). TCI’S role in the plan was to develop the ‘arts and culture’ side of the plan, while MHBC’s role was to focus on the parks and recreation side. The plan was adopted by Council in the Fall of 2018.
Ontario Science Centre OMNIMAX Theatre Market Assessment (2018)
This project was to examine the design, market and financial implications of modernizing the OMNIMAX theatre operation at the Ontario Science Centre to a digital platform, from its existing 70mm analogue operation. This would enable a much wider variety and range of presentations, including a planetarium- oriented offering. We worked closely with Oberleitner Associates, a US-based theatre consulting firm specializing in film and cinema (including IMAX operations), as well as Reich+ Petch Architects.
Maison Boréal Transitional Seniors Housing Facility (2018)
With ERA Architects we undertook an update for a feasibility study for a seniors’ transitional housing complex in Chapleau, Ontario. The project involved forecasting the population of seniors in the Chapleau area over the next decade, then determining the likely proportion of these that would be interested in an assisted living complex of some type. This work determined the size and required features of the facility; ERA then undertook site selection and design work. The client was Maison Boréal Home Inc., a local not-for profit group that was dedicated to the provision of accommodation and support services for senior in the region.
