Lake Charles Chapter holds Senior Citizens workshop on “Opting Strategies For Caregivers”. Lady

Stephanie Morris, Public Relations Director for Health Systems 2000, Inc. and member of the Lake Charles
Chapter of TLOD, conducted a workshop on “Coping Strategies for Caregivers” at the Whispering Hope Care Center
in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Lady Morris (shown standing) shared coping tips and strategies, and reminded the
large group of seniors to be receptive to asking for help. She noted that persons with emotional concerns, exces-
sive stress, or burnout should not be reluctant to seek aid of a professional. She encouraged residents to make
time for himself/herself, visit a personal or family physician, hire help or an attendant, and utilize (free or low
cost) resources already available in the community. The Senior Citizens Thrust Committee, in partnership with
the Lake Charles Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., sponsor monthly workshops on various topics of
interests to senior citizens. Lady Sheral Lavergne is Senior Citizens Thrust Chair, Lady Thelma Hargrove is the
monthly events’ hostess,. and Lady Raven Williams is TLOD president.

Lufkin Chapter Healthy Choices Program held its annual Healthy Choices Camp at Camp Cullen in Trini-

ty, Texas. There were thirty (30) participants which includes the Lufkin Chapter Top Teens, ACE students and
Lufkin Middle School students that are enrolled in the Healthy Choice Program. The camp focused on assisting
students in the further development of teambuilding, decision-making, and leadership skills. The students partici-
pated in a variety of recreational games, a campfire, arts and crafts, archery, zip line, pipeline, alpine tower and
riflery. These activities provided opportunities for students to increase their motivation to demonstrate a sense of
cooperation, confidence and independence.
The Healthy Choices Director, Lady Jacqueline Hale facilitated the weekend camp experience for the students
with the assistance of Lady Karon Goolsby, Lady Carolyn Kegler, Lady Andra Self, Lord Kenneth Self and Ms.
Melissa Jimenez.
